About Skywalker

What is VEX Robotics?

VEX Robotics is a robotics program for elementary through university students. Partnered with the REC Foundation (Robotics Education and Competition Foundation), the two organizations come up with a new game challenge each year for students to build, design, and program robots as well as test their problem-solving and teamwork skills.

We have our New Zealand community friends playing VEX robotics since 2020, now we have 3168S,3168T and 3168X for VRC. Our younger brothers (3168G, 3168H) have played VEX IQ robotics since 2021 and proudly qualified for VEX Worlds for the first time.

Our Story

We started doing vex since Turning Point, we were very fortunate to qualify for worlds through middle school excellence awards. We also won the Inspire Award at VEX worlds in 2019. In tower takeover, our team 2919S won the skills champion and qualified for Worlds again but it was unfortunately canceled because of the pandemic. During these 3 years we hosted multiple workshops in our community and taught VEX IQ at school. We started homeschooling during the 1st lockdown in early 2020. After that, we started our community team 3168s and 81319a as a sister team for Change UP season and hosted a winter camp for the new members of both teams. Later on, two of the founders of Skywalker Robotics, Henry and Amy, flew from New Zealand back to their home-country Taiwan after the second lockdown. Henry joined the school team there and shared his experience with their fairly new club, mentored the middle schoolers and helped them win a few awards.

For the past few years, we shared our experience with our community from Skywalker in New Zealand, we hope to continue to share our passions and do our best to give back to our hometown in Taiwan.

Our Values

In New Zealand, we met many people to share their knowledge and experience selflessly with us in the past few years. We learnt a lot from them, not only the robot building or programming skills, but also those life skills and values. Therefore, we hope to share our experience and pass it on to our younger members of SKywalker Robotics Club in Auckland and new friends in Taiwan. Hopefully, we can share and learn, and shine together with our robotic community.

Learn, Share, Shine Together
